Pros
Working with the front line staff was a great experience. They are what make Dengarry's great! They are the heart of the agency. The people receiving services were great! The job is rewarding - the rewards and positive feedback comes from the people served and front line staff.
Cons
I really hope things have changed since I've been there but management lacked leadership skills in the areas conflict management and mediation, as well as respecting staff's time off - away from the job. They also had a hard time honoring the calls that on-call staff accepted; There have been times when they took shifts away from on-call staff, to give it back to the FT staff that originally took a holiday/vacation time. But then expected you to sit by the phone when you weren't working a shift; to be available to accept a call - there is no pay incentive to keep us home by the phone on days off; basically, making staff feel like prisoners to the job - you couldn't go hiking in the mountains - god for bid you miss a call for taking care of your mental health/self care - living!!
