Horrible work environment/ toxic owners - Lash Artist Deka Lash Employee Review

I was fresh out of cosmetology school, with very little experience in esthetics. They provided me with extensive hands on, paid training, where I was able to build my skills and confidence with each service before taking on paying clients. Building a book and maintaining it can also be very difficult, but the franchise name and studio advertising did a lot of the hard work for me. This took a great deal of pressure off of me early in my career, and I always had steady work. The pay structure was also a plus, which included an hourly, as well as product and service commissions. All of the supplies are provided, and there were never any out of pocket costs. The benefits of working here are another big highlight. Employees earn one hour of PTO each week, which never resets, and paid holidays off if you are scheduled to work. We also received very generous discounts on all the products, and can have any of the services done for free. Mike and Kathleen, the owners, are wonderful. They were always supportive, flexible, and genuinely cared. I attended nursing school during my time here, and they consistently worked to accommodate my often changing schedule. They are very reasonable people, and I never had to feel anxious about approaching them for any reason. They even gave each employee a card and gift for Christmas every year, which I never experienced at any other job. The owners also encouraged professional growth, and sponsored employees to attend national Deka Lash training events when they were in the area. I had the opportunity to go to one in Pittsburgh, where my time was paid, travel was reimbursed, and our stay at the William Penn hotel was covered by Mike and Kathleen. The event concluded with a 1920s themed black-tie gala to celebrate the company’s anniversary, which was extremely fun and memorable. I will truly miss working here, and would absolutely recommend it.
