Hot mess all around! - Customer Success Associate DeVero Employee Review

Pros

1. No real oversight. Even if management has issues with your performance they won't address you directly but rather gossip about you to your colleagues

Cons

1. HIGH Turnover rate! Haven't been able to grow past 24 employees since every time they hire one person, two people quit. 2. Flaky product. The software goes completely down about once a week and with every release bugs are introduced. As front line of customer support, get used to lying and saying to the clients "We haven't had reports of any issues but let me send this over to the development team". Also, get ready to explain the difference between a URL and the address bar. You will get that "problem" about five times a day. 3. Terrible "benefits". The medical benefits are essentially catastrophic coverage for which you have to pay a huge portion of the premium. Stingy with time off, only 5 sick days and 10 pto days. No stock options or even a match on 401k. But you do get beer on Friday and an endless supply of chips! 4. Family business. Questionable qualifications of upper management, not a coincidence that everyone with a VP title is related to the President. 5. Bad "management" (this is just about the Operations/Customer Success management team). The best words to describe the management in this department are passive aggressive, unprofessional, gossipy and hostile. As there are no goals or annual reviews, management is unable to track any real metrics but instead your value to the company is based on if the manager personally likes you or not.

Thank you for submitting a review! Since this review was written, we’ve grown to 80 employees and made leaps and bounds with product development. While the company was founded by a family, we have many VP’s and high level employees that are not related to the founders. We strive to retain quality employees and our turnover rate has remained low, well below the national average. As for the the product, we’ve tripled the size of our development and product teams, and have the best “uptime” in the industry. Since this was written, we also have new leadership in the Customer Success and Operations areas. Those departments are now doing very well. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to grow DeVero and address issues as they arise.

Pros

Leadership team is driven to succeed and focused on empowering employees to develop their career. I feel respected by leadership and enjoy the challenging environment. Management is transparent and hold frequent all hands meetings to keep the company up to date. The culture and people here are what truly make the company great. We all work really hard here and are rewarded accordingly. I especially appreciate the end of year bonus and frequent performance/comp reviews. My professional growth here over the last 2 years has been tremendous and the best work experience I could ask for.

Cons

DeVero made great improvements to health benefits in 2017, looking forward to a 401k enhancement to complete the package.

Pros

1. Laid-back atmosphere. Jeans and t-shirt kind of office, not much micromanagement on my end. 2. Free snacks and drinks, happy hours on Fridays, pot lucks. Company outings to restaurants and bars, sporting events, etc. 3. A CEO that genuinely cares about the well-being of the employees. 4. A great product that employees can believe in. 5. Benefits are good, not great. 10 paid holidays, 10 days of PTO, and 5 sick days. Blue Shield or Kaiser (employer pays $220 of either gold or silver plan), dental and vision offered. Company-sponsored life insurance. 401k offered, but no matching.

Cons

1. As many people have mentioned, many managers are related to the CEO. I imagine it would be difficult to get to VP/executive level, since all of the family are in those roles. What everyone has failed to mention in previous reviews though is that these guys work looong hours and work their butts off. 2. Office gossip can run rampant, though it's mostly within one department. 3. As someone mentioned, the turn over rate is high, but mainly in the Customer Success department. I attribute this to the fact that they seem to only hire recent college grads.

Thank you for submitting a review. We’re so happy to hear that you enjoy the culture and approve of our CEO- he's a great leader! While the company was founded by a family, we have many VP’s and high level employees that are not related to the founders. As you've noticed, DeVero is an employer that rewards its top performers regardless of relation to the founders; making it worth their time and effort to consistently go above-and-beyond. We appreciate your feedback on our benefit offerings, and encourage you to discuss this with your Manager or HR.
