Pros

Good pay and benefits Remote work Flexible schedule

Cons

Since Ciox became Datavant, the work environment has drastically declined. QA rebuttals are no longer allowed, even when errors are clearly disputable. Coders are limited to just two questions per day, making it nearly impossible to learn or clarify complex cases. Production expectations are unrealistic, and those who fall short are swiftly placed on PIPs or CAPS and placed in remediation. These remediation plans serve more as HR documentation to protect the company than true educational support. Supervisors focus heavily on discipline rather than coaching, creating a culture of fear. I have personally witnessed many talented, high-performing coders who consistently met or exceeded metrics for Ciox suddenly being let go after the merge with Datavant. It is alarming how many skilled professionals have been terminated. Something behind the scenes does not add up, and the shift in culture is deeply unsettling. This is no longer the supportive coding environment it once was. Proceed with caution.

Pros

Good value proposition with a company that fulfills a need in healthcare. Has potential to be great with leadership and culture changes at the top

Cons

Extremely toxic culture that is focused on money, completing a transaction of going public or selling, without care of what it does to the actual business operations and people. So many good people leave. If you speak up, even with data and alternate ideas, you are then deemed to be negative or not a right fit for the fast moving culture. People are assessed by perceptions, regardless of actual facts. Unfortunately the senior leadership of the HR team has extreme group think and lacks professional and emotional maturity to lead the company's people in unbiased ways.
