Pros
Nice people and helpful colleagues: The camaraderie among colleagues is one of the standout aspects of this company. People are super friendly and willing to help. This creates a positive working atmosphere. Strong product with a solid customer base: The company boasts a robust product that has already garnered a loyal customer base. It's clear that the product has potential and is making an impact. Company and team activities: Every month there's a few activities organized for the employees. There's always drinks on Fridays too.
Cons
10 days a year remote work days policy: The allowance of only 10 days of remote work (work outside NL) per year is one of the lowest I've seen among tech companies in NL. Strange decision considering that a significant portion of employees are expats. The company's decision to maintain this policy despite employee dissatisfaction expressed through various channels is very disappointing. Management asks employees to keep giving feedback but then decides to not make any changes anyway. Office-first culture: Company officialy provides a hybrid work policy (3days in office), but it's evident that they strongly prefer employees to be in the office as much as possible. Because of the focus on in-office interaction, they fall behind on enabling people and the organization as a whole to truly work well hybrid and async with the office in NY. Micromanagement: Some departments suffer from a lack of experienced leadership, with team leads and heads often chosen based on tenure rather than leadership capabilities. This is normal for a start-up that's grown to its size now but it's also important to recognize this situation as it has led to issues with excessive micromanagement in some cases. No clear career growth path and lack of learning and development oppportunities: The company falls short in providing clear career growth plans and a structured learning and development platform. No learning platform like Linkedin/Udemy etc that is flexible and can tailor to individual growth needs. Also no clear learning budget. Asking employees to do "knowledge sharing" type sessions seems to suffice as their learning and development initiative for employees.
