Pros

- kind and really smart people - lunch on fridays - opportunity to work on different projects and learn new things - staff tries hard to make things work, sometimes things do!

Cons

- lack of communication between teams, especially with time differences between offices. Hard to know what is going on - seems to be a lack of overall direction and timelines are either never set or always changes. Sometimes projects will start and go nowhere - company culture is uncomfortable, hard to continue working in a place where people seem so discontent - lack of documentation, process and HR wise, requests for employee financial documentation ignored - uncomfortable and shady business practices Full time 40 hour+/week "interns" are paid stipends of 1200 - 2000 USD/month (14400 - 24000 annually) Note that SF minimum wage is $30,400 annually. *This is public info and found on the job posting.* - Can be difficult to work with upper management. The CEO has very high standards, but can be picky and kind of rude to employees and people will occasionally have to work around him to get things done rather than work with him in a productive manner

Dacast Response

We are sorry to hear you did not have the best experience at Dacast. We are surprised, however, to see your review since it appears that nothing was ever said to anyone in the management about the communication problems you experienced and so we never had the opportunity to address those issues. We do indeed pride ourselves in having high expectations and standards for our team who, for the most part, work hard and well to meet them. The same applies to your comments about documentation and HR processes - we are a small company, and so some of these issues are handled informally, but we would have appreciated your feedback to help us improve while you were here. Some of our employees began as J-1 program trainees and student interns indeed but rapidly evolved in the company, earning bonuses and salary increases. Many have later joined us as full-time employees. We also make almost all company information available to our employees, other than personal compensation information. Personal access to each employee's data is also provided through direct access to our payroll platform, an access that is not removed when an employee leaves the company.

Pros

None. No "international experience" is worth the legal and financial risks associated with this company.

Cons

- Legal and Visa Risks: This company has been officially blacklisted by French sponsors. The U.S. Department of State has reportedly launched an investigation into their practices. Do not jeopardize your future immigration status or U.S. travel by associating with this firm. - Illegal Compensation: The financial compensation is ridiculous and falls below the legal minimum wage. They exploit the J-1 program to get cheap labor, ignoring basic labor laws and leaving interns in precarious financial situations. - Toxic Leadership: The CEO is profoundly disrespectful, unprofessional, and exploitative. There is no mentorship, only a climate of fear and disrespect. - Zero Educational Value: You are treated as a disposable asset rather than an intern. There is no training, just exploitation of your time and skills for a pittance.
