Pros

Great fellow employees (whoops, we're supposed to say 'teammates'), great patients, good coffee (at our office anyway), the ice machine works, cups provided, everything looks clean and neat. I work at different facilities, some are much better than others, some of the direct supervisors are great, some are not. Overall, I love my job, not because of the company I work for, but because I love being a nurse and caring for people is my life's work.

Cons

Overall, the company is a big fake with it's 'village' and 'mayor' and 'all for one' rhetoric. In fact, it's down right embarrassing. We have a joke where we say 'just drink the cool-aid' referring to the toxic fake caring verbiage and brainwashing atmosphere we're forced to swallow on a daily basis. Davita is a typical big corporation: profit comes first...always. Despite the highly paid people to spin it otherwise. For clinical staff anyway, the work is piled on and then piled on some more...we wind up cutting corners because there just isn't enough time. Most of upper management isn't clinical and doesn't have a clue what our jobs are, they see statistics and profit but not people. Some of the work arounds we clinical people have to do is ludicrous, in order to protect the patients and ourselves. If you get sick and have to take a leave of absence, good luck getting your job back no matter how long you've been with the company. The benefits are awful, which is embarrassing because we are supposed to be such a caring/loving/warm company. You lose all PTO hours after 120 hours; this saves the company a bundle of money, although they said this is for our own good, and now by stealing our PTO we'll be forced to take time off. Not that it's easy to take time off, or encouraged to take time off. Oh, and forget any meaningful cost of living raises. You'll be lucky to get a few cents more per hour each year. Big profits for our shareholders but not fair wages for the workers.

Pros

Stable company to work for with great benefits. DaVita offers tuition reimbursement, so it pays to go back to school and get a degree. They also help with career advancement and development.

Cons

If you are new to dialysis, it may take a while to reach a decent wage. You are required to work 12 hour shifts, mostly on your feet, and managers will always look to add to your workload.

Pros

Management supports a work-life balance, hours are flexible, okay benefits. Good training opportunities and there is effort by management to support a good work culture. 6 weeks at 80% of pay Paternity/Maternity & Adoption leave. 401K with 6% matching. For 2 adults, we pay for Davita's Anthem BCBS healthcare plan and it is $350/month (4,700 deductible).

Cons

Payscale isn't aggressive - 1% raise each year. You also may be asked to cover other clinics temporarily without fair compensation for the extra workload.
