Pros

This job is NOT for everyone, but if you like solving problems and technical writing (typical engineer stuff), as well as GETTING DIRTY, you will do well. I really enjoy the balance of field work and office work. There is a good deal of flexibility with your daily schedule (more than most jobs). I can do things with my family during the day and still get my work done in the evenings if needed. The upside potential of the comp time (i.e., overtime pay) is really nice - at my previous employers, I would typically work 50+ hours/week anyway but never got compensated extra for it.

Cons

I did not care for heights (i.e., climbing on roofs) as first, but I did get accustomed to it, and now it doesn't really bother me. If you can't get over that fear, you will struggle being a forensic engineer for Donan. There have been a lot of changes in processes, particularly with software, and that causes some frustrating lags in efficiency - hopefully, the major changes are complete at this point. Since you mainly work from home and get paid for overtime, it can be really hard to turn this job off at nights and weekends- it took me a while to learn how to manage my schedule effectively.

Pros

Initial interview went well. Good follow up and reminders from initial recruiter.

Cons

Will be putting this review on Alpine Intel as well because this is one of those companies who rebranded instead of making substantive changes to a flawed business model.
