Cons
There is a major disjoint between branches. When I was recruited, I was sold the DJH story, which sounded great and pulled me in. I received a brochure which painted a picture of a company that was vibrant, exciting to work for and with lots of benefits. In reality, when I started, the atmosphere was completely unwelcoming, There was very little communication between colleagues and although I had never worked in accountancy prior to this job, I felt like I was expected to know jargon and received no formal training on any aspect of the role. I would suggest if you were hiring someone who had no experience, you should expect questions to be asked, however when I would question systems, processes, jargon used by everyone around me, I was met with passive aggression and made to feel belittled and stupid. No one had any time to offer which really did not start of my experience well. Not only that, but directors seemed to push the narrative that our brand wasn't "DJH" which was very confusing to me. Why go ahead with an acquisition when you have no interest in merging values or really anything the overarching brand stands for? I was hired as administrator and when I got there on my first day, I was told I was secretary to a director. Talk about miscommunication. The way I was spoken to in this role had me at my lowest, I have never had an experience in a role like I did here.
