Pros

Benefits are okay, Pay is average

Cons

No one is on the same page as far as management. No straight forward answers to questions asked about the business just clowns putting on a show. You’re just a number and your time and efforts are overlooked and not considered. No room for advancement. You’re capped off at a certain pay depending on union contract so your income does not match your hard work and tenure. You could pass away and they won’t show much appreciation for you or let anyone in the company know unless you’re a manager. Everything is done based on the business needs with no exceptions. Management is solely focused on how big of a bonus you can make them and doesn’t care about your well being. Very unskilled managers. Customers are the worst and many are racist and disrespectful but you are told to endure it until you can get a manager to take the call which is unlikely. System issues are daily and cause many issues for customer accounts and cause issues with meeting metrics that really are unnecessary with the type of customers they have. DirecTV is greedy and pretends to care about their employees. If you are a good agent you will be asked to do extra work that they don’t plan to pay you for and won’t offer an incentive for. There’s no room for advancement and they want you to push products and services that are extremely overpriced. Somehow customers info gets leaked and scammers constantly scam elderly customers because the scammers have access to the customers info on the account and can easily pose as a DirecTV agent. Unrealistic KPI’s. Favoritism is a big thing because there’s no way half of the managers were qualified for their position based on experience or skill. Very stressful job. Not worth the headache. There are better opportunities included WFH opportunities that will trump the DirecTV experience. Please save yourself the disappointment.

Pros

The pay and performance incentives are solid, and most of the staff are friendly and supportive. That said, it was a bit surprising to encounter a few individuals who showed little interest in assisting their coworkers. The location is convenient, being close to home. The work itself can be rewarding—especially as you develop the ability to effectively interact with people from a wide range of backgrounds, which makes the job much easier. Overall, most members of management were approachable, professional, and open to communication

Cons

You can expect to stay busy at times, which is actually a good thing when it comes to job security. Some calls can be high-stress, especially when dealing with upset customers—but that’s part of any job involving the public. The upside is that DIRECTV equips you with the tools and support needed to turn most interactions into positive outcomes.
