Pros

DFA will really push your understanding of the architecture profession QUICKLY. Meaning that you'll immediately be involved in several projects that will likely get built. They will also really strengthen your portfolio with some impressive competition work, if you are tapped to work on them. The pay is fair and even higher than most small offices in the city, and they are willing to work with you based on your performance.

Cons

Mostly everything else about this office is a con. The hours are expected to be long, and if you are salaried, they will not pay you overtime. You will work more than 70 hours a week at this office as a young designer. The leadership at this office is extremely impatient and will not partake in teachable moments. They will throw you into the fire and expect you to figure it out quickly regardless of the struggle. Some may see this as an opportunity, and if you are an intern, it may very well be, but there are much better places to get similar work experience out there without the constant pressure or blunt criticism.
