Pros

They pay interns. That was the main reason for my brief stint. There were also couple people who were kind and made the effort to teach. Unfortunately they were few and far between.

Cons

I had come to DCI after having worked at an unpaid internship for 4 months because I needed money, but quickly left DCI after 2 months for another internship that paid even less because I felt like I wasn't learning anything. The main group I worked for had clearly gotten their jobs right before the bust in 2008, and felt very special for doing so. Having graduated during the crisis I had to briefly work for these girls who weren't much older than me but did somehow manage to treat me and my fellow interns like freshmen excel monkeys. I get it - interns come and go and are the bottom of the barrel, but with the mindless excel work and runs to Staples, there should be some element of teaching. I think the company is just large enough to create a "cog in the machine" vibe and as an intern I felt I was wasting my time.

Pros

Great place to start a career in PR. You get immersed quickly into projects and work with all sorts of clients. Your experience will drastically change depending on your team and who your manager is as they will be the ones vouching for you. They have a good concept of training if you find the right people and ask questions.

Cons

You work long hours and are given no real sick leave. The culture can be clicky and can sometimes feel like you are being pinned against your co-workers. It easy to feel burnt out and overwhelmed.
