Pros
Friendly coworkers, environment is not cutthroat, opportunities to learn all sorts of theory and application of engineering principles.
Cons
There's hardly room for promotion here. Upper management is all Christian baby boomer white folk who keep the money within their circle. When COVID-19 came around, the work slowed for one month and then went full send and they told employees they were in no position to give raises when they were making money hand over fist. Not sure how they treat engineers pay wise but there's no money to be made if you're a geologist or even an engineer that they keep in the lab for years. Very slow to adapt to new technologies that promote more efficient work; this could optimize their processes but they prefer to do things the old fashioned way, which makes sense when you look at the average age and complete lack of diversity in management and exec positions. CEO is invisible, tucked away in her ivory tower somewhere.
