Pros
I graduated peak of the recession, had a college degree that I worked really hard for, but no work experience and no opportunities because of the economy. After busting my tail for 4 long years, I ended up working at a retail company, the same job that I had when I was in High School. I started looking for other opportunities and found Cygnus. I started as an Account Executive when we first opened and was able to grow into a leadership role quickly within the company and really help the company grow. The two things that really stand out to me are the opportunities we have and the work environment. Opportunity: Like I said in my title, I never have to look for a job again. We're a growing company, we've already been able to help our clients open a new market since we've been open, and we have plans to open up two more by the end of the year because our client is so pleased with our results. It's been an amazing experience for me, giving me leadership and business skills that I read about in college, but here I actually get to implement them and learn about business hands on. Work Environment: I came from retail, and if anybody has worked retail, they know that it can be very catty. My very first day working at Cygnus was an eye-opening experience for me. I came into an environment where people actually like where they work and everybody likes each other. We get together every week to do something fun together, and we routinely have community service events and fundraisers to help our community.
Cons
I'm not gonna lie, it's hard work. I want a career and not just another job, and in order to hit both my personal and professional goals, I know I have to work hard for them. No one is going to just give them to me. If you're scared of hard work, this isn't a good fit for you.
