Pros
The only pro I can actually think of is that as a store the colleagues get on well, and that is it.
Cons
Oh where do I even begin... I have been with company full time for a year and a half now, and I can safely say as a dixons Carphone colleague you are not a human, you are just a number. Ridiculously high targets, with career progression virtually impossible as you have to "prove yourself" in order to progress so don't think you can just climb the ladder with ease. No support from management whatsoever, and their management technique is bullying. You are targeted on what you don't sell, rather than what you have sold. Just to make matters worse, if you work for the Currys side (as oppose to Carphone warehouse) you are targeted on bringing customers over to Carphone warehouse, which is just absurd if you ask me. We are also now targeted on selling home broadband, as well as all of our department-specific targets for the actual products of the store; with talks of the company branching out and introducing gas and electric - so yet another target to add onto the pile. One of my colleagues and I (I work on the tv section) counted that we have 14 separate questions we HAVE to ask EVERY customer when they purchase a tv, otherwise we are counted as underperforming. Put yourself in the customers shoes for a second, would you enjoy such a shopping experience? From an operational perspective, in other words putting out price tickets and what they call "promo"'which is changing all of the POS, head office are useless. Consistently we do not have the right POS to put out in store which will often lead to some sort of dispute with management for something out of your control. The partner companies this organisation work with are alsocompletely useless, often leading to failed installations/deliveries for customers which of course the customers will then blame you for (through no fault of their own, who else would they come in to moan at?) All in all; absolutely horrific company to work for, even if you are desperate for money avoid at all costs. The bonus scheme may look appealing but trust me when I say it is honestly not even worth considering, as the targets in order to achieve such bonus are just unobtainable.
