Pros
Wonderful people to work with in most all departments. Supportive and welcoming corporate culture. Good for development; experiencing new roles and responsibilities is encouraged.
Cons
The powertrain industry is cyclical and moves with the economy. Cummins, like any publicly held company must answer to its shareholders, and so every 4-6 years when a downturn hits, they fire a lot of people, then hire again when demand ramps up. This instability has gone on for decades and is integral to the business. It's a great place to work while you're there. Don't fall in love with it. Compensation has historically been targeted at the average for the industry.
