Pros

Cracker Barrel does not have to tip out; all tips received can be claimed for yourself. You can trade shifts without hassle, just be sure to report to the manager, have it written, and have the coworker who would like to switch with do the same. Cracker Barrel can be a great job to make money, once you learn the ropes; you can make plenty of regulars and work different job positions, if you take the training for that position. Benefits are included if you work a certain amount of hours, as most jobs provide. You can take mini tests in the computer room to "PAR up", or level up, to achieve benefits such as a slight raise and $ 100 gift card during Christmas if you are the highest PAR (the stars on the apron). I have worked at two different Cracker Barrel locations. Every place is going to be its own. Working for this company can be rewarding especially if you work here for 2+ years. District managers and corporate are great people who take pride in their company and will try to make working here a pleasure. You should give Cracker Barrel a chance, it can be a very fitting job that can be rewarding and you can make expectational money with this company.

Cons

Management had went downhill (a lot of what you see in a restaurant results from the general manager, do not blame the company as a whole). A lot of people are leaving the company because of the current General manager at the store I worked at. It is no longer about the employees best interest so that the restaurant can thrive as a whole, but more so for personal bonuses. Be wary if you are trying to apply to Cracker Barrel as your second job if you already have a server job. This may not be a con for some individuals, but you must work holidays with the exception of Christmas Day: Christmas Eve, Easter, Mother's and Father's day, Thanksgiving, and others. Once again, these cons are in regards to the store I worked at.

Pros

Caring and extremely high energy servers, cooks and hostess. The management handles everything at the restaurant with integrity and competence. They know and love their guests. They even know what they order and their other preferences.

Cons

The cuts in hours they are forced to make due to corporate interference.

Pros

Most coworkers were genuinely great to work with and made shifts more enjoyable. * The guest interaction and serving aspect of the job is something I personally enjoy. * Some shifts could be positive depending on staffing and team on duty.

Cons

*Management was often unprofessional with inconsistent communication and expectations. * Certain coworker behavior occasionally affected morale and created a less positive work environment. * There was a noticeable blame culture where issues were not handled in a constructive way. * In my experience, bringing up workplace concerns or uncomfortable situations did not always feel welcomed or supported, and it sometimes felt like speaking up led to negative attention. * Scheduling and hours were inconsistent, making it hard to rely on stable income. * Inconsistent scheduling sometimes resulted in difficult shift patterns, including working split doubles (such as 9–3 followed by a 4–close shift), which often meant not getting out until around 10:30 PM and then repeating the pattern on consecutive days. * Training was limited, and expectations were often unclear, which made the job more stressful than it needed to be. * In my experience, HR concerns or formal complaints did not feel like they were taken seriously or addressed in a meaningful way.
