Pros

I will put nothing here because every pro comes with more than one equally bad con. Discounts +, discounts are limited to a certain small amount-, you don't get paid enough to use them-, we don't get enough time to use the items we would like to buy and hearing on the radio "everybody is happier outside" its comedic, half of the items are less than the 40% they keep saying in the replies to reviews here. The staff are lovely+ But they are all suffering -, we are only all here because of comradery and because its very difficult to find a job right now.

Cons

too much to name. All of which are due to the terrible upper management, store management are never to blame and are very very lovely and also underpaid. -Awful pay for "experts": everyone here is so so talented and we only get paid minimum wage because it would be illegal not to. When you hear on the radio "our experts" its like youre kicking us all in the throat. Who ever is picking and choosing who to reply to on here is gaslighting to say their benifits outweigh. discounts arent worth it, sick pay would be illegal not to provide, as would holidays. But its so hard to take their amazing holidays as we are so unbelievably short staffed and they reply with "we are hiring across all our stores" no you arent?! You wont provide us with enough hours for the people to work here let alone hire more. stop gaslighting. -We dont get anything new or clean: when you walk into a cotswold youre walking into a s**t heap, literally. We are often only 2 members of staff and with that we are expected to get post outs and customer orders done in 5 minutes, serve customers with "outstanding customer service" do all of the admin for our store, keep track of targets, do massive deliveries often of more than 40 totes and make sure no one is left without a "hello" and leaves without paying. All of this with only enough hours to have 2 staff on. So, what I'm saying is, they wont pay for a cleaner so everything you touch in there hasnt seen a professional cleaner in years, if ever. The only time we are supplied with cleaning supplies was during covid when it was illegal not to. Again with the "if it wasn't illegal they wouldn't do it" funny that. -No security guard: prepare to deal head on with terrifyingly angry shop lifters every day, reason why we don't have one? too much money and their salary doesnt equal "a few stolen jackets" with absolutely no regard for the safety of the staff (the real reason we want one), just the money. Even the police, on multiple occasions have been horrified to hear we don't have one and we have had to resort to asking for help from another shop. We get mystery shopped often and they will try EVERYTHING to mark you down, they have subjective sections and usually that is where you will be marked down. you could take a customer out on a date and they will still say you weren't friendly enough. -No praise, no support. If you are the most amazing person in the whole company the most you'll get, if you even get that, is a green mark next to your name. No incentive to increase your targets at all. the only incentive is to not get in trouble. no positives only negatives. Imagine never rewarding your dog for giving a paw but hitting it when it doesnt. That is how we feel. If you are sick or mentally unwell there are 10000 forms and hoops to jump through, Summary: awful and degrading amount of pay. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, no benefits to speak of at all, they will say they have them but its like a genie in a bottle, theres always a catch. Nothing is clean. You will be over worked until you burn out and are left sobbing in the toilet, if you can even get the time to. They will not help you when you're in trouble. the only shining light are your immediate collegues and managers but even they are losing hope. No. Not. Apply. or. shop. here.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns – we understand that we don’t always get things right and therefore feedback is extremely valuable to us. We encourage colleagues to own their feedback as this allows us to explore the concerns and address them in a timely manner. Therefore, we would encourage you to reach out to our People team at peoplepartners@oandcc.com. We'd like to address a couple of your points in the meantime. You may not be aware that we offer all contracted colleagues enhanced sick pay, a benefit that sets us apart from many other retail stores. Additionally, we have a bonus scheme in place as an incentive across the business. This bonus is subject to pro-rata to ensure it is distributed fairly among all colleagues. We want to ensure that all our colleagues feel supported and heard so if colleagues have concerns or issues, we encourage them to reach out to our People team. The more information they have, the better equipped we are to address any concerns in a timely manner. With that in mind, we would really encourage you to contact us on the above email address, as it's important to us that our colleagues have a positive experience while working with us.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We’re happy you enjoy the work environment and overtime opportunities. We understand that having a proper lunch area makes a big difference and have a few different break areas throughout our Kemble site where colleagues can spend their lunch breaks and make use of kitchen facilities.
