Pros
I cannot think of a better place to work if you care about educational outcomes, equity and the arts. If you want to expand your network in these areas, you will make fantastic connections. Many of my former co-workers have gone on to become teachers. I think this speaks to the values of the people Cool Culture hires.
Cool Culture is a great place for people who are doers. Since it's a small organization with a tiny budget, there is always room for people who can make things happen on a shoestring budget. I felt that management was very open to new ideas. I also advocated for some small pilot projects and was able to get the money for implementation.
Even though the team is small, it never felt cliquey or that their was mandatory socializing.
Even though the organization is small, management does a good job of promoting high performers, including former AmeriCorps and Public Allies members.
Cons
As a small non-profit organization, there are not regular funds for professional development.
