Toxic culture - Sales ContactMonkey Employee Review

Pros

Management are actively trying to address the gender imbalance on the team (although, important to note that there's an imbalance of personalities leading to an aggressive, cut throat environment) You get the occasional day off in the summer when it's sunny. Good commission structure (but you have to be a favourite to get any good leads)

Cons

I found working here to be pretty toxic and bad for my mental health. -Bro culture. Regular poker nights and football games- good social scene if you're a guy. -Hard selling. -Extremely high turnover on the sales team. Lots of favouritism and culture of competitive, 'A Type' aggressive personalities being rewarded with the best leads, whilst the more relationship focussed, grounded, consultative salespeople tend to quit or be fired. -You're actively discouraged from talking to your team mates about work (or anything else). Management seem extremely paranoid and insist every conversation goes through them. You're pitted against one another. It leads to a stale, toxic, isolating and lonely environment. When I left, the majority of my colleagues didn't get in touch to check I was ok or wish me good luck, despite us being a 'small, close knit team'. -Lots of 'Back off, that's my lead!' -Product is buggy and hard to sell. You're expected to be an SDR, AE and product support at the same time. It's exhausting. -Low ratio of SDRs to AEs means you're constantly behind the competition (who operate with a full SDR team). -Micromanagement- selling from a script- very rigid. You feel you're unable to think for yourself, which leads to stagnation in your professional growth.
