Decent Pay and Benefits Poor Culture - Auditor Constellation Energy Employee Review

Pros

Good Salary and bonus. Decent benefits compated to other corporate jobs (but still not enough to actually live your life) Mostly remote

Cons

Annual cost of living adjustment is like 2%, far less then even normal inflation. So you make less every year you work there. Not enough time off to take more than 1 decent vacation and spend holidays with family. The culture was better at Exelon. All the busybody accountants went to Constellation, and it shows. At Exelon we would get a free half day off before holidays, not here. It’s very much a put your head down and work all day culture, but management will pretend to be friendly and care. It’s an illusion, all that matters is your work product. You’re not a human being here you’re a cog in the corporate machine. Really poor project management from management. Always take on way too many audits in the annual plan, periods with almost no work with nothing to do but CPE farm, and then periods where you want to jump out a window. Everything is expected to be done yesterday. Expectations to work nights or weekends to meet deadlines although it’s not said. Management is really poor. The first project I worked on the manager gave me no time or attention and then I got blamed when it wasn’t up to par. She didn’t even put up weekly meetings for us. Every manager also has different preferred templates and testing styles, so you could do really well in one project, and then carry over the same type of testing only to bomb the assignment. No consistency outside of ICFR work. They will also put you on projects that are not in your field of knowledge and then when you struggle give you a poor performance rating. They were going to force all employees to be vaccinated even though we are almost all remote until the supreme court hearing. Think about that, a corporate telling you to put a chemical in your body to work on a laptop at home and go into the office a handful of time a year. If you have any issues in your personal life do not share them with management expecting some sort of consideration. You are there to work like a machine. Endless meetings that could be emails Didn’t really provide any real training on the data analytics tool but then expected you to use it. Overall, it’s not the most toxic culture I have been in but its close. For some who want almost fully remote and decent pay and benefits it may be ok, but it wears on you pretty quick.

Pros

Coworkers are all intelligent and overall good people to spend 12hrs a day with.

Cons

The department is perpetually understaffed. You’ll never actually work an 8hr shift, because no one is dumb enough to vote for that schedule. There’s not enough operators to fill the schedule without being forced all the time for 16hr shifts. Be prepared to be forced for OT on a regular basis even with a 12hr schedule. If your family is important, then this probably is not a good long-term plan. You’re going to miss sports, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc. You live at work and home is a place you sleep. The company might advertise company holidays, but that just means you get paid a little more for being here on those days.
