Pros

Company throws annual holiday parties, annual picnics, most managers are flexible with schedules, lots of OT available. Good benefits.

Cons

Mandatory on-call requiring employees to answer phones and work through the night and all through the weekend, operating on very little sleep the next work day. Employees are promised to be paid per call, but upper management will reduce the number of calls taken to significantly reduce the pay the employees get paid in an effort to cut costs, sometimes by half. HR team has zero experience in recruiting, so potential new hires are not properly vetted or trained. Average tenure for the majority of new hires is only a few months at most. Management will fire employees over text while at lunch for the most minor of offenses, rather than investing in their employees, counseling them on mistakes, and ensuring less turnover. Employees are promoted to manager positions without proper training or oversight, resulting in unqualified managers on power trips who are often unavailable for their subordinates. Some upper management has free reign to completely belittle and demean their staff, to the point that the scene made from their yelling and screaming about the inadequacies of their staff is overheard by half the office. Overtime is necessary for most accounts, leaving employees underpaid and over worked as new accounts are piled on them for no increase in pay until they can no longer manage their work load, often resulting in the employee's termination. Pay rate is ridiculously low for the amount of work required, and pay raises only offered annually at a very low rate at the discretion of previously mentioned unqualified managers. Very little career growth opportunities.

Consolidated Fire Protection Response

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Consolidated Fire Protection (CFP) appreciates feedback from current and former employees. CFP is happy to host employee appreciation events and provide flexibility, opportunity, growth, and great benefits to our employees. On-Call is a requirement set forth in the job description, job postings, and discussed during the interview process. Trained National Account Representatives are scheduled and notified well in advance of their On-Call rotation and are not required to take on more than scheduled. However, there are Account Representatives who request to be scheduled more On-Call rotations to make additional income throughout the year. In fact, an Account Representative made more than $10,000 in extra income during 2016 for On-Call rotations. Due to steady growth of our client base and our employee population, we have recently added a second rotation to our weekend On-Call. CFP recruits, hires, and trains qualified candidates. We have established legal and effective recruiting, hiring, training, and termination procedures. Employee retention is important to us and we do not take termination lightly. We provide constant training and mentoring for employee development and growth within the company. As our company grows, we continue to create new positions and promote within. We are proud of the growth and retention CFP had in 2016: 22 promotions, 20 additional positions, 11+ years of our Executive Management, 10+ years of our Operations Managers, 6+ years of our Mid-Managers, and 3+ years of our Senior Account Representatives. We are readily excited for our 2017 growth! We have high expectations for our management team, leaders, and Account Representatives to regularly meet our customers’ requests and needs. With any job, this fast-paced, time-sensitive position is not for everyone, however qualified individuals regularly thrive and grow within the company. We wish you the best in your future career.
