Pros

I've worked for connection crew for almost 6 years now. I began during the Olympics in 2012. Connection kept me busy for 8 months of the year for the first 4 years. When the work died down around Jan/Feb I would go travelling for 4 months. As soon as i came back at around April/May I was able to get straight back into work. They were very understanding. This is a huge plus of working with Connection crew, its quite flexible. If you are willing to work hard during the busy period you can do quite well for yourself. Since then I've committed full-time to connection crew and have moved up through the company quite quickly. I am now a Senior Crew Chief. If someone is physically able, has good time management and is willing to work hard, there is no reason they couldn't move up in a similar manner. Where we work, what we and who with/for is always varied. Each venue/client/ and who you are working with brings different challenges. For me this keeps the job very interesting. Connection crew also work alongside some homeless charities, helping to get people off the street and back into work, which is something we're all quite proud of. Overall its a great company to work for.

Cons

Last minute calls and late night shifts happen from time to time, but this comes with the industry we work in.

Pros

Interesting work that's different every day. Good group of people to work with on site, friendly and funny. Keep you fit, lots of exercise loading/unloading kit in venues. Good experience for working with tech and how to set up lighting and build stages. Great way to get your foot into the door of the events industry if that is something you are interested in.

Cons

Highly irregular work hours and vastly varying hours per week of work depending on time of year. Office management is poor and dishonest. Creates a sense of distrust between the on site crew and office staff. Low overtime bonus and no nightshift bonus.

Pros

Effective management, easy to talk with.

Cons

If you plan to do it full time, can be hectic at times. Many jobs are 2-3 hours and requires you to travel a lot.
