Pros
the only saving grace of this job is the diverse employees, i met some of the greatest people at this job.
Cons
unfortunately the list is annoyingly long. • Multiple cases of sexual harassment from employees • If you struggle with any medical conditions HR will still try to have you work above your capabilities even if you have a doctor's note or ask for accommodations. •Management will ask for your advice on how to make the museum better however will do the opposite of what the employees think is best. • They have a butterfly room that not only is not comfortable for the butterflies but a entomologist has called the butterflies livestock and treat them as such. • it is your "responsibility" to watch 40+ children in one room and if there is an issue with a child or with a parent, it will still be your fault. • Employees that work in the position as VE have heard management talk down and had even heard the VP say they do not care about VE. You will be expendable to these people. • They want you to be on your feet all day and constantly say you cannot talk to your coworkers when you are on the floors because "you don't look like you're working." But pride themselves of the workplace being "like a family." • if you have sensory issues or are autistic or dislike children i beg of you please do not work here. It is hell. •They will work you to the bone here, the communication between management and VE is practically non-existent. You will find out about changes too late before you can even adjust. • Gossip, Gossip, Gossip. • Management will invite about 1200 school children but at times there will only be 4-5 VE employees working that day, at times they are not properly staffed to watch these children. • Management says that they are willing to help VE when they are lacking staffing, however that is far from the case. There is a clear divide in treatment of those who work in management and those who work in VE. • This place genuinely only cares in the sales of the memberships and nothing else.
