Pros

Attracts talented people, so the people can be great to work with. Company very solid in structure, so transition into a role there is easy.

Cons

No pay reviews. If you want more pay, you have to threaten to leave or be one of the favourites. They focus on the positive benefits - like the £250 voucher that they give all staff at the end of the year (who have been there for a year of course), and flexible hours, and a subsadised gym membership, to try and avoid talking about pay reviews, bonuses, etc. The benefits aren't over and above what you'd expect from an employer who wants to take care of their staff, even if they try to make out like they are! The culture club is fantastic, and really does bring spirits up. However the company is focusing on mental health to seem like a new-age modern company, but completely ignoring the fact that they're causing their own staff problems with mental health through pressure and poor management. Senior management seem to openly be dishonest. They hire completely unreasonable/untalented people into management roles, and expect the good staff who actually deserve the senior roles to look after the clients without any pay reviews or bonuses or appropriate support. It's causing a poisonous atmosphere, and it's a real shame because it attracts talented people, so could be fantastic but the talented people instead just leave.

Pros

* Talented, friendly people - this is the company's biggest asset * Good mix of people - all ages, all walks of life, different skills * Relaxed atmosphere - lots of trust and no micro management * Great social events - organised through the employee-driven Culture Club * Enlightened approach - to things like diversity and mental health * Some good benefits - pension, healthcare, 30 days' holiday

Cons

* No career progression - huge turnover of young, ambitious, skilled people * No bonus structure, no promotion opportunities, no salary review - basic things you might take for granted at other companies are non existent. Even appraisals are voluntary * Partners do not value full time employees - happy to let skilled people leave and replace them with contractors * Zero training offered - if you want training you have to break down doors to get it, and even then it's not guaranteed * Owners do not abide by their own company values - how can you truly create a culture when management do not believe in it? Madness! * Lack of clear direction - need to write a new mission statement every six months * Base strategy on marketing buzzwords not on what they're really good at, hence why strategy frequently changes * Can't retain staff, can't recruit staff - very reliant on contractors which creates strange imbalance and transient workforce. Demoralising doing same job as people who get paid twice as much.
