Leadership Qualifications - Endoscopy Tech Community Health Systems Employee Review

Pros

I loved working at the Endoscopy department in Foley, AL. It was rewarding on several levels but most specifically to work with physicians who were well-rounded in their skills, their personal presentations, and their treatment of patients. I love he intensity and challenge of saving lives 24/7. The 2am call was always welcomed - I was compensated in that regard generously.

Cons

Advancing people based simply by attrition is not a sustainable protocol. As was the case for me getting a new dept head who was not of leadership quality. She expressed strongly that she wanted the job but was passed over the first time due to her limited qualifications. The second time, however, she got the position and was a poor model to follow and let the position go to her head - she went from a staff nurse to a nurse manager. She had no bachelor's degree and no sense of the importance of employee engagement, recognition or delegating tasks to others. She was a one person show (one trick pony). And management was not her thing.
