Pros

- In terms of their jobs that require little to no prior experience, CCC tends to pay quite well, especially when it comes to their Behavioral Health Technician Roles. - The job can be extremely rewarding helping kids through perhaps sone of the roughest times in their lives. - Job attire is casual! - If you have a passion for helping kids and leading groups and activities, there are often days that won't feel like work at all, especially if you put in the effort to participate in the activities with the kids!

Cons

- Educational experience short of a degree (ie any relevant coursework completed) is not enough to justify any adjustment to base pay when negotiating pay, no matter how far you may be through your program. - The training required of new BHTs is both too much and not enough at the same time. Too much in that it includes too much information that is not relevant while on the job, such as reading literally every company policy, even the accounting ones. It's not enough in that both myself as well as others that have been hired have all felt like they've been put in front of the kids and left to just figure out how to help them within the bounds of the cottage rules. - They definitely get their milage out of the "all other duties assigned" part of the job description! Cooking, cleaning, and laundry should all be on your radar. - Co-workers lack cohesiveness. There is very little functioning as a team. - Levels of leadership lack transparency in their decision making processes and reasoning. - Responses to absences from leadership have rarely felt empathetic, and have almost never involved any concern for my wellbeing.

Community Counseling Center (CCC) Response

Thank you for taking the time out to share your experience as a BHT. We really appreciate the work being done with the kiddos we serve. Pros: As a Behavioral Health Technician at Community Counseling Center (CCC), you’ve noticed several positive aspects. First, CCC compensates well for roles that require minimal prior experience, especially in the Behavioral Health Technician positions. Additionally, the job provides immense satisfaction as you support children during challenging times. The casual dress code fosters a comfortable work environment, and your active participation in group activities makes some days feel more like fulfilling moments than work. Cons: While CCC has its strengths, there are areas for improvement. The compensation structure could better recognize educational experience, even if it falls short of a degree; however we do provide salary increases when an individual obtains their degree while working for us. The training process, though comprehensive, might benefit from streamlining to focus on job-relevant information; unfortunately, there is not too much wiggle room with this, as we have to follow state guidelines for training. The multifaceted nature of “all other duties assigned” can be overwhelming, including responsibilities like cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Enhancing cohesiveness among co-workers and improving transparency in leadership decision-making are essential goals. Lastly, we apologize if responses to absences have lacked empathy; your well-being matters to us, and we’ll address this moving forward. We appreciate your insights, and your feedback helps us create a better experience for our team members and the children we serve. If you have further thoughts or suggestions, feel free to reach out. Thank you, CCC Recruitment Team
