Pros
Commodore Cruises is fun because of the nature of the jobs. I have worked on around 35 cruises most of which were parties, weddings and celebrations for individuals. Passengers have a wonderful time on board and the crew get to eat from the dinner buffet once the passengers are finished. I've had the chance to meet really cool and important people dining aboard the vessel. As a deckhand you get tremendous responsibility tying up a vessel. There are also opportunities to train as the conning officer underneath the direction of the captain.
Cons
There is no formalized training plan and sometimes parties can get rowdy. It is up to the deckhand to be the bouncer because most of the Captains are past retirement age.
