Pros

The best thing I can say about this place is the title of the post. They gave me an opportunity to get out of the breadline. The office supplies were kept well stocked and maintained in ample supply. Save for the CFO the accounting department is very nice, and very talented at their jobs.

Cons

The president is a very smart man, but he will take advantage of anyone he can. I heard him say that he was exploiting an employee because "He's too nice to say No'. There is no HR department at all, this means there is no one to help if you have a problem. I did, and I was ignored after many attempts to solve my issue. There is also no management structure, although people are made to think so by their job titles, the President is really the one managing every department. Most people, even the folks good at what they do, live in constant fear there, and the gossip and bad talk have driven more people out than the low pay and the horrible benefits. Watch out, for the bait and switch, you think you're being hired for a very specific job, but in a month you'll be doing the work of 3 people if you let them push you.

Pros

Some very talented people work there and have worked there. So many wonderful people to work with. Company catered lunches monthly.

Cons

Where to start? Absolutely nobody is happy there. They hire very talented people but don't pay them enough. They aim to hire new graduates or people with little experience but large amounts of talent in order to get away with underpaying them. Morale is ridiculously low. Owner travels constantly but micromanages everything. He's impossible to reach out to, does not handle any sort of criticism, and never makes time to talk with employees. Whenever he holds meetings, it's to lecture the staff, not to hear feedback. Everyone there is afraid of him. Whenever he enters a room, the place quiets down and everyone sweats bullets. He commands respect but offers none in return. Business decisions are never made without his approval, which means that anything not proposed by him ever gets approval or even consideration. Getting feedback is almost impossible from anyone in management. Meetings are constantly rescheduled, cancelled or forgotten entirely. Senior department workers are overworked and spread thin. If you work salary, you are expected to work more than 40 hours a week, though this is never explicitly stated. They are spread so very thin and refuse to hire extra help. The place is incredibly small and not well maintained. Mold and grime everywhere, mouse problems, too few restrooms.
