Pros

Tldr: The culture is great, we're doing meaningful work that never gets boring, the company is succeeding and growing fast, management is super involved in a positive way, expectations are realistic, and it feels like you can grow a lot professionally here. Sounds too good to be true, but it actually is. The work we're doing is engaging, meaningful, everyone clearly cares, and it shows. Members of the team are super supportive across departments, and it truly feels like we're all in this together to succeed and improve healthcare. I think everyone is more invested because the work actually does something good in the world. It's not lip service and it's not something banal like customer management or productivity software. You don't have to feign enthusiasm because you get to solve real problems that actually matter. There's also a remarkable sense of camaraderie despite this being a hybrid work environment, and I feel like I can depend on all of my colleagues — even though I've never met many of them in person. On that note, I really appreciate that management allows us to work remotely from anywhere and respects our preferences. You're able to come into the Austin office, but you're also welcome to work from home. They've made it clear that we're not going to be forced to go back into the office, and that they're committed to trying to make remote members of the team feel included in company culture. They even put together regular remote events — they sent us all ginger bread house kits this holiday season and there was a competition on slack. That said, the events are totally optional though if that's not your thing. We've also had a lot of big wins in the past year. We won the largest healthcare AI challenge ever, doubled our customer base, won a ton of awards, quadrupled annual revenue, and grew the team with new funding. Management definitely sets ambitious goals, but they always feel achievable and I personally feel like I've had the support I needed to meet them. People will take the time to answer questions and meet with you if you're having trouble with something. Feedback is constructive and I've never felt like I was being micro-managed. Similarly, everyone I've worked with or under is brilliant and no one is coasting on other people's achievements. There's also a ton of opportunities to learn and grow your skills here. It's a growing company and people are constantly stepping up and subsequently being recognized for the effort they're putting in. I've learned a ton since coming on board, and it certainly helps that everyone on the team is really sharp and willing to educate. All in all, I think this is a great work environment. It feels good to see your work contribute to helping people and growing the company, and it's a great opportunity. I really believe that this company is on track to be way more successful than it currently is — and it's already growing super fast. I know this sounds like I've been drinking the kool-aid, but I've genuinely had a great experience. I think there's a lot of startups that promise the world and then expect you to work a ton of overtime with really demanding, out-of-touch management. This is not one of those startups. Everyone is giving it their all and the work is challenging, but they get that we're all also leading our own lives and respect that.

Cons

ClosedLoop is a rapidly growing startup, and sometimes that comes with tight turnaround on projects and limited availability from members of management. While it can be stressful, I think the team is generally really good at making sure people don't have to put in overtime and ensuring that everyone has the proper support to do well in their role. Since we've grown so much in the past year or so, there's not a super smooth process for on-boarding. You have to take some initiative because it'll probably be hard to get up to speed otherwise. Sometimes this also applies to day-to-day work and projects because everyone is generally pretty busy. I think diversity is something that could still use work. Management has made some great initial steps to be inclusive and grow a more diverse team, but there's still room for improvement.
