Pros

- If you network all the time and are excellent at making contacts, you can build a great network and can easily move between jobs - Despite recent economic downturn, Citi is still respected and everyone knows the name - opportunity to work abroad in all sorts of locations

Cons

- difficult to navigate, silos, lack of understanding of business lines other than your own - plenty of employees who are not bright nor professional - hard to come by the truly great managers, other managers have really only got to their current position because of their tenure / have been with the bank since 1975. - outsourcing of functions means job security is always a question

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
