Pros
Lots of smart people that are mostly, very hard working. Good work/life balance (for most) with plenty of tools to help get that done. Pretty good benefits. Good lateral move possibilities.
Cons
Stock options are worthless. Raises are few and far between and RSU (Reserve Stock Units) and cash awards are becoming more and more rare. Company is slowly evolving into IBM; people are commodities, everything is assessed on cost/value and layoffs are a regular occurrence. Can't develop software products...horrible. Company is having a hard time realizing it isn't in a high margin hardware, "nobody ever gets fired for buying Cisco" kind of company. This is a big old supertanker and it takes FOREVER for it to change direction. Unfortunately most of its competition are in super fast speedboats.
