Pros

Convenient travel for employees living in suburbs west of Philadelphia, opportunity for bonuses twice a year, decent kitchen (dishwasher, toaster, coffee machines, fridge/freezer, soda/water machine based on honor system), requested office supplies provided by company, creative environment, growing staff. Account team is very competent. It's an animal friendly company so pets can be brought in for all day visits every now and then. Growing digital department. Nicely decorated bathrooms. Lots of seasonal team building events. Also celebrates special events for stuff like weddings and new babies. Supportive coworkers if you pull your weight.

Cons

Bad management hiring decisions. Some managers are indesicive, some managers micro-manage and others are very territorial. Many employees have cliques. On the surface everyone is nice and works well together. The company uses an external HR division to manage things and it makes everything more bureaucratic. Lots of internal red tape. Employees are sometimes given more responsibility than what is reasonable. Unless you let your boss know you're leaving on time, staying late to get projects done is expected. Freelancers are used a lot usually on a trial to see if they can hack it as employees. Some employees bend over backwards to cater to unreasonable last minute client requests. Too many pro bono and low paying jobs. Heavily relies on two big clients to keep the company afloat. One all in one printer/fax/scanner for the entire office which clogs up jobs and makes for less productivity. Removed a traffic coordinator that used to handle workflow. Too many meetings. Reorganization of company seating based on clients instead of actual departments (used to be art altogether, copy altogether, account team altogether, etc.) Can be loud and break concentration sometimes. A company council made up of all managers to decide companywide policies and processes, leaving little input from employees. Resistant to working from home/remote work. Uses an outdated timekeeping system. No digital routing system.

Pros

The employees are great. Very friendly and really good at their jobs. Extremely committed, probably to a fault. Commute is great for those living in nearby suburbs. Pets are in the office often.

Cons

I have never been so stressed in my life. Constant micromanagement. Even after shifting the hierarchy, there are power struggles and the employees are suffering. Any time an employee tries to take initiative, they get their hand slapped for "stepping outside their bounds." Communication is non-existent. Meetings about projects are held behind closed doors without the team members who actually have to do the work. No one is ever on the same page. Managers will let their team get halfway through a project (or further) and then change the direction completely. Then, when the project is over budget or late, it is somehow the team's fault. Employees are badgered about their hours constantly and Lectures whenever there's a dip in revenue, yet the company will work for free, avoid sending well-deserved change orders, and price the work extremely below value. As a result, employees are underpaid and rarely receive raises. Additionally, you are expected to work after hours every day unless you are given permission to leave on time, even if you work through lunch. They nickle and dime you for every hour, even though you're salaried.
