Pros
1. Made some amazing friends. 2. The work in itself is quite interesting - credit applications and approval. 3. We are paid a performance bonus at the end of the year.
Cons
1. Toxic environment, abusive seniors/supervisors. 2. Unrealistic sales target for loans. Management does not seem to understand that influx of customers will be different in various locations. So some counters might perform well whilst others might have a low sales performance. 3. Very little career growth opportunities. To be promoted to senior staff you need to either have a close relationship with a manager or basically be a snitch. Moreover, most promotions are given on the basis of experience rather than knowledge of the actual job. I know people who have been promoted to senior staffs but do not have any idea on how to do basic tasks. 4. After 2 years at CIM Finance, work became very stagnant and was not learning anything new. New responsibility, especially in regards to approval of referred applications is given only based on experience and not knowledge and know-how. 5. Due to the company’s lack of marketing strategy, we are required to call clients an propose various products as well as go outside and try to attract clients (which was clearly not stated in our job description). 6. Managers have a severe lack of emotional intelligence. They focus on cutting costs at all times (reducing overtime pay, downsizing of labour force, etc..) rather than motivating employees. 7. No work life balance. We have to work on shifts and due to a shortage of employees most of us have to do full shifts (morning till night)
