In the last 3 months the Ciber UK SAP practice has gone from over 100 people to less than 40 due to the desire to cut costs, the closure of the main office with relocation to London and the loss of the biggest customer but, most of all, due to the total incompetence of senior management. It all started a year ago with the installation of a new global CEO who wants to reorganise everything into a global structure and move away from the national organisations like Ciber UK doing their own thing. Sounds reasonable, but it takes no account of the fact that this is a business where the company’s assets are its people and the knowledge and skills they possess. So you need to keep their loyalty - especially those who are the main points of contact with the customers, because you also need to keep the loyalty of the customers. Senior management were so obsessed with reorganising, rebranding and cost-cutting that they overlooked this. The summary removal of popular senior staff, a bungled redundancy program and the departure of key pre-sales staff to competitors has resulted in a complete loss of confidence with resignations almost a daily event. I see no way back. Such a shame.
