Pros
- Great coworkers. Feels like a family that has to band together under two awful parents. - The office is nice. - Could do worse if you're looking for a resume point and a paycheck for 4-6 months
Cons
- There's no way this company lasts beyond the next 12 months outside of a small skeleton crew. - CMG prides itself on hiring smart people, then completely ignoring their insights on how to fix very serious problems. Remember that guy on Titanic who everyone kept telling to not go full speed because of the countless ice warnings, but he did it anyway? That's the (co-founder) Resig brothers. - Employees kept in the dark. Lower and mid-tier employees don't actually know how the company is performing. - Toxic environment and verbally abusive. It's normal to get phone calls in the middle of the night, on weekends, and on vacations by your drunk boss who cusses you out during these off hours. Look forward to that. - If you're a woman, run as far away from this place as you can. Leadership actively avoids hiring women if they can and doesn't promote/compensate female employees to the same level as men. Even if you do get in, expect very questionable behavior aimed your way. - They're gutting departments trying to stay afloat. Long-time employees (who aren't related to the Resigs) are being let go so they can quickly turn around and rehire the positions for less-experienced, cheap labor. - The "community" is leaving in droves. They're getting wise to the fact that CMG is just using them as ad-sales tools to squeeze whatever they can get, while they can. Shame, since the community did great work for charitable causes. - Public tirades and meltdowns on a frequent basis. It's a slow week at the office if John Resig hasn't screamed in an employees face/thrown a fit in front of everyone. Seems HR's purpose there is to try and protect John against harassment suits and complaints. - Just work somewhere else.
