Pros
Charles Schwab is an ethics based company. This translates into how we treat our customers and employees. When developing software we always try to have the customer in mind. Most of the staff is very well meaning. Although you may be frustrated by your interactions with other employees, for the most part you know that they are working towards the same goal.
Cons
There is too much red tape. Teams compete for budget dollars so there is a lot of red tap and meetings to negotiate what gets delivered and by whom. A large portion of our technology staff is offshore. This presents a great challenge to how teams work in a distributed environment. Some of our vendors are not as capable as others. Building lasting relationships with individuals across an ocean is extremely difficult.
