Pros

Equity-driven nonprofit that takes working with communities seriously. Great people and work-life culture.

Cons

It is small and struggles with finding direction at times. Like any small nonprofit, funding can be tenuous.

Pros

Cool mission and laid back staff are a nice plus. There were some really amazing people who worked there, including my second manager. The office is also nice, and has a ping pong table.

Cons

I had an unbelievably bad manager during most of my time here. My experience might not be representative of everyone, since it was situational, but I had an awful experience that scarred me for years to come and pushed me to leave the industry all-together. My manager was nasty and abusive. He was a micro-manager that had no concept of giving actionable or constructive feedback. He literally wouldn't let me send an email internally without cc'ing him on it. On multiple occasions, he blew up at me and screamed without giving any reason. I've since had other managers, including supportive ones who wanted me to be challenged and to grow, and I can tell you that this was not normal. The organization half-responded to this incident, but it wasn't adequate until they changed my manager. I had to threaten to quit for this change to be made, and it took over 9 months. Once I was doing work in a less abusive environment, I found the company to lack clear vision.
