Decent Job, Not a Great Career - Process Engineer Catalent Pharma Employee Review

Pros

The people that work here are great and the locations are accessible if you live anywhere near Baltimore. Being a CDMO means that you have the potential to be exposed to a lot of different things.

Cons

Has declined greatly in the past few years in terms of employee growth potential and senior leadership competency. Constant hiring and promotion freezes, constant cutting back on things and little to no oversight on certain areas. The company is run by business people, which is evident as everything they do is "profit first" with little thought as to the implications of their actions and how it may affect the science behind the process. Simply put, there is a huge disconnect between the people that run the company and the people that are actually doing the work to make the place successful. Many don't have faith in senior leadership, especially the CEO, who constantly claims that we are doing great, despite the fact that there are constant cuts, layoffs, and a refusal to spend money on necessities, like fixing equipment or ordering supplies that are necessary for basic lab functions.

Pros

The team is incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and supportive, which has made it easy to learn and feel comfortable asking questions. There is a strong focus on training and collaboration, helping me feel safe, well prepared, and confident in my role. I also appreciate the benefits, which support a good work-life balance.

Cons

One area for improvement is the flexibility for new employees regarding remote work hours.

Pros

Good people and good training Good stepping stone for a pharma manufacturing career clean environment

Cons

Insanely underappreciative and borderline abusive upper management 3+ months mandatory overtime might as well tell your kids they are orphans, you will never be home power hungry micromanagers (spies on people who takes breaks) different pay for everyone cannot stress enough how bad the upper management is, so many people are leaving (even people who have been working for there 5+ years!) because of the lack of appreciation, micromanagement, and clear lack of respect for their workers. very disorganized
