Pros

If you are a people person the conversations you have with guests are wonderful! Booking vacations for people is fun. Would love this job if management was better.

Cons

The training feels incomplete. You are not fully prepared for the actual job. They put you on the phones right away. You are literally thrown to the wolves. With so much knowledge about mental health its anxiety inducing trauma. In meetings, they often put people on the spot for no reason but for pure enjoyment of seeing you uncomfortable. You never see the full picture until month 4. There is never a walk through of a person actually doing the job so you know what is expected. You have to learn things in training that have nothing to do with what your day to day actually looks like. There is no stress on the things that actually matter to succeed at the job in training. Which are you being able to sell Carnival Vacation Protection which is no good because they deny guest claims all the time, and booking guest at a higher deck $$which cost the guest more money, making 100+ dials and talking people's heads off "painting emotional pictures" for 4hrs+ DAILY are the only things that matter to Carnival sales management. You are competing with the website and are just a body to them. They want you to work every Saturday Jan-March or your coined not motivated or hungry enough. Last Saturdays of the month are mandatory. If you are getting your cabins booked meeting your goals and guest are rating you 5 stars none of that matters if those other things aren't met. Which brings us to the conclusion that A. Carnival doesn't care about their own guests or employee happiness. Everthing is nonrefundable and non-transferable. no exceptions! so guess who has to deal with that. You! And if a guest doesn't want any of the above and just wants a cheap cruise. You are supposed to brainwash the guest into thinking they don't know what they want. In 2025 this is the wrong sales approach with the internet and ai a customer is well informed. Sales in 2025 is supposed to be a guided conversation to assist a guest in figuring out what they want with the insider knowledge you have. Not a hard pushy sell telling them what you want them to buy. They named the position personal planner but it should be Carnival Gaslight Vacation Planner. Ran by Narassacist management. They micromanage you every day. They track your whole day and even spy on your calls. It's ridiculous. They use a sales script from 20 years ago! They will not even let you market yourself on social media. They run your Facebook page. Management announces the same top 10 people's successful bookings over and over in the team chats for all to see. Mind you there is 1000 pvps only veterans of 5 plus years are making any real money or daily bookings and not many stay that long. Rookies are given the metrics of veterans and loaded with the average of 10 warm leads a day. The rest is 90 cold calls to past cruisers and don't even think about "letting" a guest hang up on you. You have to hit that 4 hr talk time or else you better have 150+ dials. Cause if not you're working late buddy. Pay is a joke and they scam you out of overtime saying your exempt from it being salaried at $16,500 which is a lie if your not making atleast 22.50 a hr when you factor in commission and hours worked. You are legally owed overtime. This job is as slimy as a used cars salesman.

Pros

-Flexible schedule -Minimal micromanaging -1 Hour lunch breaks -Current Promos make sales easier -They market on your behalf -Sales trainings are top-notch -Instill a sense of family and belonging even though remote -Contests can be fun -Ship visits and comp cruises

Cons

-Some coworkers are excessively competitive which can be annoying -Daily numbers, booking flags, etc in the team chats can be distracting and demotivating, but this is a personal observation and may prove opposite for others -Dialing, dialing, dialing even with a few bookings per day can be a slog -There will be days when you question if it’s worth it. Those days usually come around the salary-only check deposit. -It’s hard to work with a guest for days sometimes weeks only for them to book online, and there’s nothing you can do to get credit for the booking -
