Pros

The majority of the support staff and a few of the attorneys are really great. The occasional catered lunch was also a nice treat.

Cons

If there is one word to describe the atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door, it's oppressive. There are a few attorneys who live by the "beat them into submission" motto. Verbal abuse and hurtful statements are made to staff members on the regular. The words "please" and "thank you" are replaced with "now" and "finally". There is little to no direction given to the support staff by some of the attorneys. The word WRONG has been seen on many documents handed back from review, yet there is no directive as to how to fix what was incorrect. The ones who are great at their jobs are tasked to pick up all of the slack of the sub-par employees. Do not expect to be rewarded in any real way, except for the treat of receiving more work than one person can tackle handed to you on a daily basis. Also, from what I can tell, the positive reviews are written by the lead attorney. The interns are in high school, and I know that when i was 17 I surely wasn't writing verbose and eloquent reviews about a place I worked at once a week.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your post-employment feedback. We are glad that you appreciated our free lunches, which we try to do frequently as yet another part of our benefit package. We do regret that you did not find every attorney and staff member to provide specific enough feedback, as we find feedback very important to professional development. We wish you the best of luck in your future professional endeavors.

Pros

Rather than providing the standard pros/cons review, I thought best to just share my thoughts in one comprehensive review: During my time as a clerk, I had numerous opportunities to actively contribute to litigation tasks and trial preparation. This encompassed conducting legal research in areas where the law is unclear. The encouragement from partners and colleagues motivated me to involve myself in tasks that attorneys might require assistance with, leading to substantial practice in drafting pleadings and other court-related documents. This firm serves as an ideal fit for law students or aspiring attorneys, given the manageable number of attorneys and partners, ensuring a supportive environment. Monthly luncheons provided by the firm feature food from favored restaurants, fostering a sense of community. The firm’s commitment to diversity is remarkable, with an almost equal distribution of male and female employees and a significant representation of minority individuals during my tenure. While attorneys often work beyond 5 pm, the firm maintains a balanced workload for the assistants and clerks. At this firm, partners exhibit distinct approaches in their work and task delegation. Developing an understanding of their expectations can be swiftly achieved by actively listening to their directives and noting their instructions during task assignment. I found that each partner was receptive to offering guidance whenever I approached them. Asking for clarification or guidance is essential in this role, especially given the potential complexity of assignments. The firm’s business environment, clientele, and casework are highly commendable, and my initial experience in a legal setting was truly rewarding.

Cons
