Pros
- 6% 401k match, vision, dental, health insurance - Free food at times - Company gives surveys to help employees “have a voice” - celebrates holidays (barbecues, taco days, etc.) - Good start job for someone freshly out of HS, veteran, etc. - % increase in your pay every year (called merit) - There are some genuinely sweet coworkers - Presidents club (essentially “free” money)
Cons
- You may get bullied your first couple of months working there (stand up for yourself the first time they throw around a slick or backhanded comment) - a lot of jokes come off as passive aggressive, micro aggressive, condescending - Favoritism in the company will cause you to not get positions you deserve, etc - Company charges $50+ for company attire when they only pay you $17 starting and the problem is the clothes don’t LAST - Outdated work area/electronics - Positions aren’t worth it due to you only getting a $1 increase and are tackling on more workload - Management is all about numbers and sees workers as metrics instead of people at times - Management will ask for your opinion of voice on something and will completely invalidate what you just said because there mind was already made up - They have these company values (put people first, go for greatness, etc.) but it’s more for the customers than the co-workers lol. - SH isn’t too far from the front door either - Corporate never takes the employees into consideration when they implement new protocols/procedures to follow (this means being uncomfortable for the likes of the company) - If you want a business office position CarMax is not for you because you will be doing everyone else’s job while also being timed for timeliness for each customer transaction
