Pros

My time at Captec taught me a lot of things. I feel I have come out of the other side a much more robust individual. I've learnt about business, and I've made great friends. None of these positive attributes though can be claimed by Captec as a company. My team mates were able to help me develop, the company just dragged me down.

Cons

Captec is slowly destroying itself. It's management team are stuffy, suffocating and lack direction or strategic vision. I honestly believe that most of their time is spent trying to dodge the MD and letting other departments take the fall as it keeps them out of his eye line. Their performances are based on "let's beat up who's doing the worst" rather than celebrating or motivating success. Most employees in the company range from unhappy to enraged. No one believes in a shared vision, no one wants the company to succeed because they don't want to further the careers of the managers who are consistently letting them down. The worst part is, the management team can't alter the business or culture for the better, as their opinions are invalid to the MD and Directors who ultimately decide everything and have no time for innovation if they can't see any commercial value, especially when it comes to people development. People are seen as assets, not as individuals. They make the company money, or they don't. No one ever performs high enough to exceed expectation and are frequently made public examples of when they make mistakes, through shouting, screaming and swearing for all to hear. This is why most of the management team has been replaced 2/3 times in the last 18 months and whole departments have broken down into nothing. It's a shame, and it's a waste. There are some strong, valuable and talented individuals who have walked into the doors of Captec. They have tried to develop themselves, offer their thoughts, work on their talents and weaknesses, but to no avail. All who are talented enough to leave, do. Those who stay do so out of loyalty or fear, not because they love their day to day.

Pros

Some people that work there are lovely.

Cons

HEED MY WARNING: Trust all the bad previous reviews and know that the good reviews are written by HR to soften the blow.  I’ve ignored them and paid the price Avoid working in the Marketing Department at all costs.  Anyone that has worked there that knew what they were doing and did any good to the department, either quit, or got driven out.  The Majority of management either doesn’t believe in marketing altogether ( been said by Interim Marketing manager, General Manager and CEO on separate occasions ) or doesn’t have a clue about how it works, yet they all have strong opinions on it.  CEO has a problem controlling himself and throws unprofessional tantrums with complete disregard to decency ( apologises after if confronted ) but keeps repeating.  - Not a place for growth- At least 2 years of no leadership in the marketing department. Everyone avoids the position or quits within a couple of months. - A company that “doesn’t believe Marketing works”- One man show by a CEO that micromanages EVERYTHING. - Invests near to nothing in their marketing department. The equipment provided are decades old, with a refusal to upgrade or improv.Personally paid out of my own pocket for well over a year for essential software  ( like Adobe and Stock Imagery websites ) and equipment. Mostly due to no leadership in my department and management lacking any initiative to invest in the department.
