Pros
***If you are great at being a brownnose, then you will probably be paid a ton of money at this company and receive bonuses every month (you can be paid even more than the person who has been there for 17 years!). ***The owner never fires anyone - there was a SVP that lost the company some large accounts, was stealing from the company/co-workers for years and was sleeping inside his office and it wasn’t until 2 employees threatened to quit unless the SVP was fired did the owner end up letting go the SVP.
Cons
***The workload in relation to the pay do not correlate. ***Total unprofessional work environment. This is the worst place I have EVER worked! Never in my life have I ever been treated so HORRIBLY as this place treats people! ***There is a vast difference on how people are treated throughout the office. It is obvious early on who the favorites are and although the favorites talk smack behind the owner’s back, they praise him to his face. ***Most of the people inside this office are only out for themselves and will throw you under a bus in an instant. ***Some employees are allowed to do whatever they please and can spend all day on imgur, youtube or chat with their friends online, but others cannot even go to google without being questioned. ***Although the company markets themselves as “Experienced, Professional, Advanced Broker Consultants” etc - they do not hire people with experience in the insurance industry. This is because they pay a horribly embarrassing wage for the amount of work they expect you to perform - and someone who has experience in the industry would never agree for such lackluster wages. Instead, most all of the staff was hired out of temp agencies ***There is no training whatsoever. The manager who was supposed to train me for an entire week - actually only spent about 10-20 minutes with me each day. When she did have me sit with her she just yelled constantly and complained about the two previous people before me who she professed were horrible at their job and told me that she expected for me to be horrible also since the previous two people were (great leadership…). The manager/trainer’s training is unorthodox and chaotic. She doesn’t explain anything clearly and when I asked questions she often didn’t know or provided inaccurate information. As Albert Einstein once said, “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” This couldn’t be more true for this manager - she clearly doesn’t understand the job well enough to explain the position simply. I ended up learning everything by spending hours on the phone calling carriers licensing departments and asking them to help me understand everything and the processes - you may need to call back several times until you get someone that will be nice enough who will take the time to help you. ***There are no advancement opportunities. It is a small office of only 10 employees (at max - typically 7 are full time). The only way you are going to possibly advance is if someone quits or dies. And even then, you are more likely to just have a more hectic workload in that case and not receive any extra salary - UNLESS you are a brownnose/one of the owner's favorites. ***Overall it is a very hostile work environment. ***Pay is SALARY - which was never actually communicated until after you are hired. They expect you to come in EARLY and STAY late all the time - although there is no incentive or bonus to do so. AND - unlike other salaried jobs - you CANNOT come and go as you please - you MUST complete these stupid "permission slips" to beg to leave an hour early or to come in late - and you have to give explanations - VERY JUVENILE! And then you must use your Paid Time Off (PTO) to take off an hour early or come in an hour late.
