Pros

The people here genuinely care about your growth and development, and the industry itself is extremely dynamic and fast-paced so it's always exciting

Cons

No 401k match, and constant leadership changes, but that's expected from a startup

Pros

Remote flexibility, cool product to work on, $750 WFH Stipend and $100/month gym/wifi reimbursement

Cons

Recently, many people have been leaving the company. One reason being quiet layoffs that happen out of nowhere, and now you’re left with taking over that person’s workload with no help. Another reason is people are sick of dealing with the company’s incompetent nature and leadership’s lack of true leadership skills, so even the ones that have built out this startup from the start are leaving (that’s when you know it’s bad). Diversity is extremely low in this company, older white men lead the company and only talk about sports and try to intimidate others in efforts of covering up their insecurities of being a low-quality leader. The disconnect between the leadership team and the ones below is horrible. Leadership constantly jump into projects and mess everything up, and then leaves it to the rest of the team to fix it, then leadership comes back and asks why the quality of the work is bad. There is no clear direction for the company as of now, and it’s constant “putting out fires” in preparation for more fires to come. It’s really unfortunate because the product is great, and Canoe has a great advantage compared to its competitors, but the reason why it won’t be as successful is because of the team leading the initiatives. Leadership does not bother responding (or even listening) to what we all have to say, and it is extremely difficult to get a hold of any of them even though they claim they have an open-door policy. Many people have quit because they had no career progression path possible for them, because no one has time for each other!
