Great people but low work quality - Strategy Consulting Camber Collective Employee Review

Pros

Many kind, smart people that are truly passionate about social impact and have interesting backgrounds.

Cons

Leadership/managers often do not have the skills/knowledge to design the projects that we win, so it feels like a scramble to put together work that is not high quality. Promotion decisions are unclear; firm often hires more senior roles externally instead of promoting from within. Layoffs had a notable impact on firm culture and created a stressful work environment.

Pros

Intellectually stimulating and meaningful work in the social impact sector. Good pay relative to other social impact Consulting companies. Small but entrepreneurial with the ability to quickly make change within projects and within the organization. Visible and active commitment to equity long before it was popular and after the government crackdown. The company does hold people accountable for doing high quality work, so a lot of the negative comments here are from people who were held accountable.

Cons

Still relatively small so does not have the infrastructure the bigger firms have. The company has a lot of growing to do still to strengthen how it operates. The sole focus on social impact can mean greater volatility compared to management consulting which can even out ups and downs with commercial business. The benefit of course is you will never be asked to increase the sale of opioids. Definitely take the time to know the company and its strengths and growing needs to make sure it is the right choice for you.

Overly political culture for a small organization Leadership centers "white comfort", particularly the comfort of the white leaders Lack of vision from leaders, lack of understanding of how to build a culture where there is authentic belonging Stated values are not reflected in actual firm culture
