Cons
Don't say I didn't warn you.... No room for advancement. The owner has an ego that won't fit in the room, micromanages employees, and treats them poorly by interrupting them mid-sentence and, in a loud, hostile tone says, "DON'T SAY THAT!" OR "DON'T REPEAT YOURSELF!" It was not just me that he treated poorly. Basically, if you haven't been there since the company began or if you're not a spouse or child of the owner, you'll be treated badly.
The owner also can't remember what he had for lunch. So, I'll bet you $10 that you'll have arguments about projects because he can't even remember what's been done or not done.
I liked both of the owner's children and felt that they would've managed the company better than their dad, however, they were treated very differently from other employees. The daughter was rarely there. The son left work every day at noon.....NOON.
That sets up my next statements. I was let go after reminding the owner that I had a scheduled vacation. I had previously told him after I was hired about this vacation and that it was already booked but he failed to remember and retaliated against me by letting me go. At that point, I was sooo miserable that I was actually happy to move on. The fact that I was let go, literally, 4 weeks after moving from two states away to Augusta and after signing a one year apartment lease, was particularly painful.
A few weeks later, I talked to a recruiter and told him my experience with this company and he said, "I wish I had known you before you moved and worked there because CallingPost has had this M.O. (mode of operation) where they've hired and fired very quickly for the last five years."
I'm a great employee and have stayed in previous positions for years. I was happy to move on from this company in just a mere 2 months.
Their products are obsolete and are financially performing badly. The company is in financial crisis, as well. The owner was putting his personal monies in the bank in order to make payroll. I went once to cash a check they wrote me. The teller scoured at the check and said, "I'm sorry but we can't cash this now." I said, "Why is there no money in the bank?" She smiled and said, "Well, I can't disclose those details."
