Pros
The property is beautiful
• Guests can be kind and appreciative
• Some coworkers are supportive and hardworking
• You gain experience handling a high-end resort environment
Cons
Chronic understaffing. It is extremely common to be left alone for long stretches of time while expected to manage phones, bookings, walk-ins, guests, spa coordination, housekeeping communication, and laundry all by yourself.
• No breaks. Employees are often scheduled for long shifts without relief or anyone available to cover a legally required meal break.
• Constant scheduling chaos. Shifts change last minute, hours are unclear, and staff are pressured to stay later than scheduled with little warning.
• Poor communication from management. Rather than planning ahead, management tends to react in panic, which creates a stressful and unstable work environment.
• Unrealistic expectations. The workload placed on one person is far beyond what is reasonable, especially on busy days or during weddings and events.
• Little support or accountability. When concerns are brought up, they’re often dismissed instead of addressed, which contributes to burnout and low morale.
