Pros
Solid Labor/Customer Service job. It's possible to get into a flow state and not notice your shift fly by. It's possible to do "hard work" if you volunteer for it, and actually make student customers happy and build relationships with them. Like most restaurants, you're entitled to a free meal, and because Cafe 3 is all you can eat; profit. If you're a student worker, the location smack in the center of the South Side is convenient. I already happened to be living a five minute walk away. It's obvious that this is a culture of love. There's a clear delineation between the student workers and the career staff, but it's that there is respect flowing upstream, and guidance flowing downstream. Watching the oldest almost retired employees working as hard and fast, if not moreso than the young students is a sight all future knowledge-workers should see.
Cons
Managers make or break the experience. A good natured manager leads t oan excellent shift, and the opposite holds true as well.
