Pros
Front-line employees and those who do the work are amazing. They do a good job of hiring good people to do work. I have so many friends from my time there. The 401K match is some of the best I've seen. Good PTO. Work flexibility depending on what your role is at the company and who you work with.
Cons
Most of the people I respect and admire, especially leaders, I met during my 5+ years there have left the company. They've either left on their own, gotten laid off or fired. The ones who have recently left have wondered why they didn't leave earlier once they've seen how nice it is to work someplace where you truly feel valued as an employee of the company. They're not nice, leadership is passive-aggressive...dare they show their face. Good luck seeing the CEO or any of the executives. I'm not sure where they hide but they definitely avoid connecting with employees because the humanity doesn't matter to them as they think about the cost-cutting, lay-offs and reorgs. In other situations, they come to CNA and see what a cluster the place is and quickly cut their losses. Check out the leadership team from the last few years and see how many have "retired" or have less than 2 year tenures. They have token leaders of color or women at the top to make it look like they are committed to D&I, but the real way to the top is if you're a white man they like. Politics, sucking up, managing up are skills that are well-rewarded. I'd be interested to see how many employees are on anxiety pills. There are many people I know who have left and look back and feel such disappointment at the direction of the company and how they were treated. They all cared and wanted to do their best to make it better, but they see it sinking further and further.
